The qubits — the basic building blocks of quantum computing — must be kept inside a special refrigerator. Here, the temperature is colder than outer space, to keep them stable. (< 1K).
All the instruments that control and send signals to the qubits are outside the refrigerator, at room temperature — about 300 times hotter. This creates major technical challenges.
